You're not a boring couple, and so your wedding ceremony doesn't have to be boring either, right?! Your celebrant's job is to get you legally married, but at YBD we like to make sure you have a ceremony that's unique and personal with a few laughs along the way. 😊 We're a bunch of young, fresh and creative celebrants led by YBD founder Charlotte Winkel. Your YBD celebrant will make sure that your wedding day kicks off with an awesome ceremony designed with and for you. It's a bit of a team effort as we listen to your ideas, guide you through the legal paperwork, learn more about you and your story, help you write your own wedding vows, and work together to create a ceremony that's meaningful to you. 👍
Every couple is different and so every wedding ceremony is different.
Your YBD celebrant can service all kinds of weddings including short and sweet elopements, fun micro-weddings, safe social distancing ceremonies, LGBTQI+ marriages, heli-weddings, themed celebrations, hike-and-get-hitched adventures, and more! We're based across Queenstown and Wanaka but available for weddings anywhere in New Zealand. 💍

Thank you so much for being our celebrant at our wedding. You did an amazing job and made us feel comfortable. We were both nervous about the ceremony but as soon as I got out of the car you were there to meet me to check in and made me feel calm instantly!
We also had a few guests comment on how lovely the celebrant was! And they also said it was amazing that we only met you the day before because they said it felt like you already knew us!
Thank you for coming on board at very short notice (two weeks).
We also loved the humor you added to the ceremony.

July 28, 2021 at 11:23 amWe hired Charlotte as our celebrant as she was a part of our package through ‘Shaken and Stirred Weddings’ (If you haven’t looked them up already, do it now!!)
As our celebrant, Charlotte delivered the most BEAUTIFUL ceremony, it was individual, and specific to us. It brought on lots of laughter, and a few tears, and it was so special how it so accurately represented my husband and I as a couple; she truly makes the ceremony your own.
Aside from that she was fun and vibrant with a smile from ear to ear. This isn’t a job for Charlotte, this is her passion, and she showed it through her words and actions. It was such a blessing to have her as part of our ceremony to share our excitement.

January 11, 2022 at 4:02 pmSiobháin was our celebrant in Wanaka on the 10.12.2021. WOW, she was incredible. Our ceremony was absolutely our favourite part, it was so full of love, laughter and all of the unique anecdotes that make us special as a couple. We had so many guests comment on how much they loved it. Ceremonies don’t have to be boring or by the book! Siobháin was so easy to communicate and connect with and we are so grateful for her attention to detail and beautifully written ceremony, we knew she was a great fit after meeting over zoom. This gal also dressed to match our colour scheme which was the icing on the cake. A huge thank you for all of the time and energy you put into our wedding day Siobháin. X

I had my wedding on 18 December 2021, Charlotte did an amazing job as our celebrant! gave a vibrant and exciting feeling to our special day!
It was really cold on top of Cecil peak, we know Charlotte suffered it, but still was able to handle it and it was definitely an amazing day that we’ll never forget! we loved that Charlotte included Mumu our small fur baby to our special day!
I would give 6 stars if I could! Amazing job 🙂

From the the initial contact of requesting her to be our celebrant, down to the last minute changes, she has been an absolute superstar to work with. We loved how easy it was from the get go. Although we primarily communicated via email, Charlotte looked after the legal side of our wedding with top-notch professionalism. Nothing was complicated, the process from point A to B was a breeze!
Charlotte wrote the most heartwarming ceremony for us, which was delivered by the lovely Emily on the day. Despite Covid throwing surprises at us at the eleventh hour, Yourbigday team ensured our day went smoothly.
Charlotte (also 1/2 of Shaken and Stirred Weddings) made the whole experience stress-free and allowed us to incorporate our personalities in the ceremony (dice roll, anyone?). Emily was incredible on the day! Even though we only met her literally a few minutes before getting married, she officiated our wedding with such a genuine warmth and enthusiasm. She flawlessly delivered our ceremony and went out of her way as the best hype person / confetti thrower / skirt smoother.

She wrote the most heartwarming ceremony for us, that included everyone, even most of the family back home. It was very Beautiful! We couldn’t ask for someone better. She was absolutely AMAZING! May 15, 2024 at 9:48 amMy now husband, Matthew and I, decided to take the leap and get married in Queenstown with a few of our closest family. Wow, it was absolutely the best decision we’ve ever made. Having Charlotte and the amazing team at Shaken and Stirred coordinate our special day took all the stress away and allowed us to really just focus on what was important, getting married and having the best day ever!
Charlotte, you are so warm, bright and welcoming, we couldn’t have asked for a better celebrant to stand up there on the mountainside with us. Your communication, attention to detail and ability to craft such a memorable ceremony is to be commended.
Thankyou so much from the bottom of our hearts for all that you do, I couldn’t recommend you and Your Big Day QT enough to any other couples looking for the perfect celebrant.

May 25, 2021 at 10:02 amCharlotte, what an absolute star of a human! We were quite nervous about the Ceremony and had know idea what it would look like, or how it would go. After a wine together and a couple of calls, Charlotte got us so excited and amping for the Ceremony. Charlotte gave us heaps of great ideas on how to personalise the Ceremony, gave us an idea of the structure, checked our vows and generally put our minds at ease. She really set the tone for what would be a cracker of a wedding – from the get-go it was fun, relaxed, comical, and brimming with love. She really did an incredible job, and we are so thankful for all her help. We cannot recommend Charlotte and YBD enough! Thank you thank you thank you!

P.S included in Charlotte’s repertoire is the ability to take a bourbon shot like a champ (on our request), relaxing a crowd after the bride falls down the stairs prior to the Ceremony, and seamlessly making a stray cat look like a valued guest.
